The city of Denver, no longer content to be a tenant in the former Denver Post building downtown, is moving to buy the 11-story structure for $88.5 million. Its purchase deal with the New York-based owner of 101 W. Colfax Ave. is intended to make room for the city and county’s courts. Many of the non-criminal courts are squeezed into the historic City and County Building across Civic Center Park. They’re expected to need another 280,000 square feet of space by 2040, according to a courts master plan. The building is just shy of 306,000 square feet and is located in the heart of downtown, with building security, an auditorium, connections to the city’s computer network and a 635-space parking garage. The Post reported earlier this week that city officials were considering purchasing the building. The proposed contract is up for consideration before the City Council’s Finance and Governance Committee on Tuesday morning. 49ers’ Brock Purdy not getting ‘sentimental’ about return to Philadelphia

Published Sat, 22 Feb 2025 04:28:34 GMT

SANTA CLARA — Brock Purdy played it cool Thursday, stiff-arming an obvious storyline of seeking vengeance in Sunday’s return to Philadelphia, where his elbow injury triggered their NFC Championship Game loss 10 months ago.“Am I going to go in feeling sentimental? … Am I going in to say I want revenge? It’s nothing like that,” Purdy said.Instead, Purdy shifted the focus toward the bigger picture, how the 49ers (8-3) need a win over the Eagles (10-3) for playoff ramifications, especially “where” they’ll be in the postseason.Last visit went haywire only six snaps into the 49ers’ opening possession, when Purdy took a snap at midfield and had his right elbow struck by speedy Eagles pass rusher Haason Reddick.Reddick hasn’t reached out since then, nor did Purdy expect any well-wishes in what’s been arguably the NFL’s best comeback story this season. “It’s just the game. It’s how it goes. You get hurt,” Purdy sai...

By Devan Cole | CNNThe Senate Judiciary Committee voted Thursday to authorize subpoenas for conservatives Leonard Leo and Harlan crow in its probe into ethics controversies at the Supreme Court. In a party-line vote, the Democratic-led committee approved the requests for documents and records from Leo, the co-chairman of the board of the influential Federalist Society who has played a significant role in selecting conservative Supreme Court justices, and Crow, a GOP megadonor whose largesse to Justice Clarence Thomas over the years has raised questions about why the conservative jurist has at times failed to report the gifts. The move is a significant escalation in the committee’s ongoing probe and comes nearly three weeks after the court attempted to address some of the concerns raised by congressional Democrats and others by announcing a new ethics code.“Leonard Leo continued to ignore our efforts and Harlan Crown has refused to provide a sufficient response,” Chairman Dick Durbin s...
