I feel really satisfied today,” Henderson said. “(Now) I get to take a deep breath now and let it out and basically start preparing for next year (in Calgary).”Megan Khang broke through for her maiden LPGA Tour title, winning in a dramatic playoff over former world No.1 Jin Young Ko. It’s been a banner year for Chaka Khan, the Queen of Funk. She turned 70 in March and 2023 marks the Chicago native’s 50th year in the business. And after seven nominations, as a solo act and with her old band Rufus, Khan finally made the cut and will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in November. That said, she has only played a half dozen shows this year. Sunday marked her seventh as she shared the bill with ’90s hitmakers Boyz II Men at the Minnesota State Fair Grandstand in front of a crowd of 10,356.For a solid hour, Khan belted out hit after hit as she kept sweeping her mane of hair out of her face to reveal her wide grin. To be clear, Khan chose her battles. She let her three extremely capable backup singers do a lot of the heavy lifting and sometimes pulled that old trick of pointing her mic to the crowd during choruses she didn’t want to tackle. But when she did sing, she sang and often wailed as purely as she ever has, particularly durin...Downtown Saratoga economics after 2023 Travers Stakes

ST. LOUIS – St. Louis Sheriff Vernon Betts says his office has seen an explosion of evictions since the pandemic.“We're getting more and more evictions, and I don't know exactly why we are getting more and more evictions. We thought that after the pandemic, we would have a whole lot. We didn't. But now all of a sudden it’s picked up,” Betts said. “I don't know if it's people not able to pay something has gone on; you got a lot of people that's out of work, they can't pay, and maybe that's a reason we're getting more evictions these days.”Betts says they’re handing out 100 notices a week, and that’s put a big strain on his already short-staffed office.“It's affecting me because we have to double the crews that go out there to do those evictions,” he said. “And as I've been preaching all over the city for a pretty good while, we are short on manpower, and so, doubling up on those crews is really working those guys real hard, cause we still have all our other papers that we have to get...Parked BMW involved in KCFD fire investigation after carport is destroyed

SAN FRANCISCO — The San Francisco Giants are at a critical point in the season. A continued skid could bury chances at a playoff berth. A wake up call can revive them amid an increasingly competitive Wild Card run.No alarm seemed to be sounding as the Giants lost seven straight series and 14 of their last 19 games heading into Sunday’s game. No obvious leader seemed to be emerging. So Thairo Estrada called a team meeting before the Giants’ final game against the Braves, hoping to prevent a sweep, to remind the team that they’re better than this — spoken in Spanish through an interpreter.“I told the team to go pitch-by-pitch, take the extra base. Do the things we were doing before to execute moving forward,” Estrada said. “Everybody knows we’ve had a difficult and challenging month, so I told the team to do positive things. It was a positive message. We have a month left and we still have a chance for us to get in an not forget wh...Stroud has scoring pass as Texans beat Saints 17-13

NEW ORLEANS (AP) — Houston rookie C.J. Stroud threw his first touchdown pass as a pro and the Texans defeated New Orleans 17-13 on Sunday night in a preseason finale that was also marked by a couple Jimmy Graham highlights for the Saints.Graham looked determined not to let his mysterious medical episode and run-in with police last week derail his NFL comeback. The 36-year-old tight end, who signed with New Orleans last month after spending the previous season out of football, caught three passes for 34 yards and a touchdown. His catches were reminiscent of the way he played when Drew Brees was his quarterback in New Orleans from 2010 to 2014. He established leverage with his 6-foot-7 frame in tight coverage and came down with contested catches. His score on a 3-yard pass from Jameis Winston came shortly after his 25-yard grab had given New Orleans a first down on the Houston 11.After his touchdown — which delighted a Superdome crowd longing to see the ever popular Graham score for t...Portland Thorns stay at top of NWSL in 1-1 draw with Spirit
